Rain Stops Play (but we find a shoulder to cry on)

Today it rains so we stow away our hiking gear and decide to catch taxi to the legendary Es Verger restaurant. It turns out there is only 1 taxi in Alaro which proves elusive until a helpful gendarme gives us his phone number.
Stunning Xmas tree in Alaro
He drives us up the numerous hairpinned road
to Es Verger, the home of the famous shoulder of lamb.Initially we are in awe of the plush surroundings but soon are made welcome by the locals.

94 year old original owner

We order 2 portions of lamb shoulder, prepared in the wood fired oven-we agree that this is the best lamb we have ever eaten-tender,succulent and flavoursome.

Following lunch we meet our taxi half way down the hill.

The driver seems less than enthusiastic about Es Verger, it turns out he is vegetarian. In his honour we spend the rest of the day vegging out but dreaming about the lamb shoulder and then to a bar for drinkies.
There seems to be a bar on every corner of this town and I have calculated there is one bar for every four head of population.
